Two lynched over witchcraft accusations at Zakpalsi

A Middle age mother of seven believed to be in her forties, Imoro Safura and a man believed to be in his early sixties (60s) Mbaa Chirfo have been allegedly lynched at Zakpalsi, a farming community in the Mion district of the northern region in suspicion of witchcraft.

The incident which happened in the early hours of Sunday, May, 7 has received condemnation from a cross-section of the public.

According to uniquenewsgh sources in the Zakpalsi community, Imoro Safura was chased and lynched at the forecourt of the Zakpalsi Chief palace where she run to seek refuge while Mbaa Chirfo was killed at his residence.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Reintegration Committee on Witchcraft Accusation and Disbandment of Alleged Witches Camps have condemned the barbaric lynching of forty-year-old Imoro Safura and Mbaa Chirfo at Zakpalsi in the Mion District of the Northern Region.

Addressing a press conference in Tamale, the group described the act as an affront to human rights especially as Ghana has signed onto a number of international human rights conventions including CEDAW.
