It was a tug of war between aggrieved wood merchants at Akwatia-line and police personnel hired by a private developer who want to use the land for a project at Asokore Mampong Municipality.
According to the traders, the private developer barricaded their premises without any notice from him or the Assembly.
Secretary of the Wood Traders Mohammed Umar revealed that the invasion of the police led to gunshots and brutality as the traders resisted the invasion.
He said they demand the Assembly to call on the private developer to halt the ongoing barricading exercise till the Assembly relocates them to a place where they can trade.
Some of the affected traders also expressed their disappointment with uniquenewsgh news that they will resist any attempt by the assembly and the developer from demolishing the market until they prepare a place to relocate them.
The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Kennedy Kankam revealed that he has met with the leadership of traders on the road map to commence the project without any difficulties but the leadership exhibited an unconcern approach.
He said the Assembly will make sure the project comes to stay without any delay and with the support of the entire Assemblymembers.
