The Ghana Mine Contractors Association is protesting a 500 percent increase in mining services permit from the Minerals Commission.
The Association says the increment is collapsing their businesses as they cannot afford the huge increase.
The Ghana Mine Contractors Association are local companies who offer mining support services such as cleaning, waste management, supply of stationaries, electrical and plumbing works.
The Association says a recent review of their charges have seen a significant jump from Ghc 2000 to 10,000 dollars by the Minerals Commission.
Registration forms and processing fees have also seen major increases.
The Ghana Mine Contractors Association also expressed concern that to acquire permit from the Minerals Commission one needs to pay between 6000 and 10,000 dollars depending on their categorization
National Secretary Samuel Aboagye addressing the media said a petition to the Minerals Commission since 2019 to review the charges has not yielded any positive effect
