Labour:30 percent of National Labour Commission resign over poor salaries

30 percent of staff of the National Labour Commission have resigned for receiving 720 cedis a month as salaries.

The resignation has impacted on the work of the Commission and have decided to charge fees from compliants who appear before it.

Chairman of the labour commission Justice Asummang Adu revealed this during a courtesy call paid on the sector minister of Employment, Labour Relationa and Pensions in Accra.

Chairman of the labour commission was saddened about the attrition rate hitting the commission.

He said for the past two years 30 percent of the staff have resigned for poor conditions of service.

He emphasised that the commission has resolved to charge fees from complainants which appear before them.

However the sector Minister of Employment Labour Relations and Pensions Ignatius Baffour Awuah asked the Commission to seek parliamentary approval.

Both the commissioners and the ministry agreed to improve the conditions of service of the labour commssion.
