A female visiting Visa holder, Zulfawu Ishaku died at Sharmansur, a suburb of Mecca in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
Zulfawu Ishaku age 68, is believed to have hailed from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Reports indicate that she came to Mecca during Umrah season with the intention to stay over and perform Hajj with those with Hajj permits but unfortunately, on her part, she went through difficult times during her stay which led to her being in a worse medical situation leading to her demise.
Officials of the Ghana Consulate were immediately informed about the situation and processes underway to have her buried.
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah prior to the Hajj season issues a series of warnings to holders of visiting, tourist and Umrah visas to stay away from taking part in the Hajj and that culprits will face prosecution and deportation.
The Ghana Hajj Board has also warned Ghanaians with the intention to use the illegal way of performing Hajj to stay away but some still find their way to the Kingdom.
