Asante Mamponghene to Swear Allegiance to Asantehene Coming Monday

The successor of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the late Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong Traditional Council, will swear the oath of allegiance before the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, next week.

This was announced when the kingmakers, the queen and the nominee visited the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Monday, January 12, 2026, to inform Otumfuo about the successful completion of the enstoolment rites for Mr Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu.

His Majesty directed them to present the nominee to swear the oath of allegiance on January 19, 2026, when the Asanteman Council sits.

The Asantehene will give him the needed authority to assume the chieftaincy role in accordance with tradition after permitting the oath.

Profile of Nominee
Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu is a senior software architect and geospatial systems strategist with over two decades of experience leading complex software initiatives across Europe and Africa.

With advanced degrees in computational science and geo-information science, and a first-class B.Sc. in geomatic engineering, he brings a rare blend of technical depth, strategic foresight, and operational leadership.

Currently serving as Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany, Leslie oversees multidisciplinary teams delivering ISO-compliant software solutions for spatial analysis, agricultural decision support, and secure identity management.

His leadership spans project governance, infrastructure modernisation, and cross-team coordination—driving alignment with evolving industry standards and regulatory frameworks.

Leslie’s commitment to leadership began early. As Assistant School Prefect at Prempeh College and later President of its Old Students Association (KNUST Chapter), he led alumni engagement initiatives, organised reunions, and championed career mentorship for students.

These formative experiences laid the foundation for his inclusive, purpose-driven approach to team building and strategic planning.

Fluent in English, Twi, and German, and deeply rooted in the Botaase Royal Family of Asante Mampong, Leslie brings cultural depth and global perspective to every challenge.

He is a certified Scrum Master and Product Owner and a long-standing member of IEEE, ACM, and the IEEE Computer Society. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence, mentorship, and meaningful impact—making him not just a builder of systems, but a builder of people and purpose.
