A man believed to be in his late 30s has been arrested by the Awutu Jei-Krodua District Police Command for killing his girlfriend with a concrete block at Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.
The deceased, named Sister Yaa, was found dead in a pool of blood with a concrete block placed on her face after the deceased committed the act.
Police sources say the suspect is a resident of the Oboman community in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region but came to spend the night with his girlfriend but killed her after she allegedly denied him sex.
Information gathered indicates that the suspect first inflicted cutlass wounds on the deceased’s face before smashing her head with a concrete block.
In an interview with the uniquenewsgh.com the Chief of Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta, who doubles as the Ogyahene of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma, says the suspect butchered the girlfriend before smashing her with the block.
He said when he heard the incident, he quickly called the Jei-Krodua and Kasoa Ofaakor District Police commands, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma says the suspect is currently in police custody, while the body was also deposited at Police Hospital Mortuary while an investigation is ongoing to identify the deceased and her family members.
