One person died, and thirty-seven others suffered injuries in a fatal road accident at Mankrong in the Suhum Municipality.

The incident occurred on Sunday, January 11, 2026, along the Accra–Kumasi Highway, involving a forty-seater Zhong Tong passenger bus and a MAN Diesel truck.

Both vehicles were said to be in motion at the time of the collision.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, one person died at the scene, while thirty-seven passengers—made up of twenty-one males and seventeen females—sustained various degrees of injuries.

The occupants of the truck, however, escaped unhurt.

Rescue operations were carried out by a team from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station, led by Bernard Boamah. The crew was dispatched shortly before seven a.m. and arrived at the scene within minutes.

Fire officers extricated the deceased from the wreckage and assisted injured victims, some of whom had already been transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.

The front section of the bus was extensively damaged, while the truck suffered only minor damage.

Eyewitnesses allege that the bus was travelling at high speed before crashing into the car.
