W/R:PREZ CUT SOD AND COMMISSION PROJECTS AT PORT OF TAKORADI

President Nana Addo has inspected, commissioned and also cut the sod for the construction of four separate projects at the Port of Takoradi in the Western Region.
These projects will enhance cargo handling capacity, maintenance and repair of ships, meet the rigorous needs of the oil and gas sector while making the Port of Takoradi the preferred in the sub region.

President Nana Addo first cut the sod for the construction of a new oil and gas terminal and a floating drydock and ship maintenance facility being constructed by Prime Meridian Docks Ghana Limited.
With a 13, 500 ton light capacity and capable of serving ships of 200meters, it will be the biggest floating drydock in West Africa.
The President also inspected progress of work at the Atlantic Terminal Services, a new container terminal with a depth of minus sixteen which is a partnership between GPHA, Ibistek Limited and AFC – Equity of the Africa Finance Corporation.
Meanwhile ,Transport Minister Kweku Asiama was elated that the projects are all being undertaken by wholly Ghanaian owned companies stressing that it demonstrates that Ghanaian businesses are ready to compete at the highest level.

The President later commissioned the new dry bulk terminal developed to handle manganese, clinker, bauxite, limestone among other minerals.
The terminal has been designed to handle 30 million tons of cargo per annum.
