Heavy security had to be deployed at the Ashanti regional NDC office to forestall the destruction of properties.

AngryAsawase  constituents marched to the office to express their disappointment over the replacement of their MP, Muntaka Mubarak, with Kwame Agbodza as the minority chief whip in parliament.

The aggrieved NDC supporters burnt car tyres at the regional party office. In one voice, they called the bluff of the national party executives over the parliamentary leadership changes.

Their demand is just one. The party should reverse the changes made else they risk losing their vote.

The regional chairman of NDC, Nana Akwasi had to intervene to calm down nerves.

He assured them of forwarding their grievances to the appropriate quarters. The police was also swift with their intervention in preventing the destruction of properties.

Meanwhile Asawase Constituency Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the National Executives of the party to reinstate it member of Parliament, Hon Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, minority chief whip and other minority leaders in Parliament.

The Executives believed, the current minority leadership in Parliament has done a good job and deserve not to be change.

The National chairman of the NDC party led by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah announced the removal of it current leadership in Parliament led by Hon Haruna iddrisu,the minority leader and Hon muntaka Mubarak, the chief whip and others. The decision by the party leadership has created tension in the party as some supporters calling for reverse of the decision.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Ibrahim Naseru, the Asawase constituency Communication Officer, questioned whether or not such decision was taken by the functional Executive Committee (FEC) of which both Hon Huruna iddrisu and Hon Muntaka are members ,”was the council of Elders consulted” ,he questioned.

He noted, the action taken by the party leadership is undemocratic as it lacks proper and wider consultation.

Some party supporters have threatened to vote skirt and blouse if the decision is not reverse immediately before 7th February,2023.
