A 40-year-old tricycle rider popularly known as Aboboya from Mankessim in the Central Region has drowned after throwing himself into a river over hardship.
Information gathered by uniquenewsgh news Nana Yaw Asare indicates that the deceased, Suleman always complained of hardship which he can no longer retain, and tried several times to kill himself.
According to people who witnessed the incident, they saw him taking off his dress on the flooded river banks, throwing himself into the river and he never came back.
“We thought he wanted to swim, and will come out later but never saw him again”.
The incident happened on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
Some divers in the community dived into the river in search of the deceased for some hours, but they were unsuccessful.
After spending several hours on the river without finding him, the Chiefs and Elders of the Community poured libations to the gods to bring the deceased out of the river but proved futile.
The body of the deceased was, however, found at the river bank on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
The remain of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
