Road Transport Operators has cautioned recalcitrant drivers who have been violated recent directive to reduce transport fares by 15.3% which took effect on Monday December 20, 2022. to comply with directive in order to devoid sanctions.
They have deployed a joint taskforce set up by the Operators to force recalcitrant drivers to comply with the directive.
According to the joint press release issued by the operators it says, “our attention has been drawn to the fact that some drivers have not revised their fares as per our directive on the 15.3% reduction in Public Transport Operators which took effect on Monday 19th December,2020.
“We are by this statement entreating all drivers , station masters and terminal managers /operators to ensure that the 15.3% reduction in transport fares is fully implemented so as to avoid any confrontation with the commuting. Any driver found to have charged above the approved fare would be sanctioned accordingly.
A joint taskforce has been put in place to monitor and ensure compliance to the new fares.We therefore urge the Regional Administrations And the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to also ensure compliance to the new fares”.
