A somber mood has gripped the communities along the Atebubu-Yeji road after a tragic accident claimed the lives of eight people.
The incident occurred when a speeding minibus with registration AS.4360-23 boarded 19 passengers from Ejura to Yeji and landed in a huge pothole at Yomoase Beposo on the Yeji-Atebubu highway, resulting in a fatal crash.
The accident occurred at 5:30 pm on Monday when some cattle traders at Yeji were returning home from business at Ejura.
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, but unfortunately, eight lives were lost.

One was in critical condition on admission at Atebubu Government Hospital, while the rest were in critical condition on admission at Yeji Mathias Catholic Hospital.
One person was referred to KATH, and one other person was treated and discharged.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest excessive speed contributed to the tragedy.
DCE of Pru East, Hon. Dauda Abdul Naasir, has described the nature of the road, especially from Ejura to Yeji, as a deadly one.
He has therefore made a solemn pledge and conferred with the MP of Pru East Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam; the MP of Pru West, Hon. Emmanuel Ntekuni; the MP of Atebubu-Amantin, Hon. Sanja Nanja; the Bono East Regional Minister; and the Council of State Member, who are all on the same stretch for a possible address on the road.
He also warned drivers and the road users to take notice of the bad nature of the road and value lives as they ply the road.
Individuals urge the government and relevant authorities to take immediate action to address road safety concerns and prevent such incidents in the future.
