The President has nominated Kofi Adu Amoateng as the District Chief Executive Officer for Bosome Freho.

A letter addressed to the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah from the Presidency asked the Minister to liaise with the Electoral Commission for the confirmation process of the nominated DCE.

The Bosome Freho DCE seat has become vacant for almost one year after a leaked tape came out on some illegal mining deals.

Some Assembly members and traditional authorities also accused the DCE Yaw Danso of non-performance which led to a near passing of a Vote of No Confidence in him.

Kofi Adu Amoateng is the constituency secretary of the Bosome Freho constituency.

Thus suspension comes after an alleged leaked galamsey conversation between him and another counterpart goes viral on social media in which the president of the republic Nana Akufo Addo also intercepts the conversation.

The President visited the Ashanti Region to meet with the National House of Chiefs and government appointees, he called out the DCE saying he would be summoned to the local government minister for probing on the said audio.

However, the President said the summon was delayed because the DCE was bereaved.

The local government minister Hon. Daniel Botwe issued a letter dated 14th Oct.2022 which says “H.E the president has directed your suspension as District Chief Executives for the Bosome Freho District Assembly with immediate effect pending your enquiry into the recent audio recording on social media, purported to be your voice encouraging illegal mining (galamsey) activities in your district.

The letter continues says, The suspension, which takes immediate effect, would allow investigations to be carried out by the appropriate agencies to verify the authenticity of the alleged audio recording”.
