The Ashanti Regional Seedling Contractors Association is demanding that the government pays the GH¢4 million it owes its members for the supply of seedlings for the tree planting exercise during the Green Ghana Day celebrations for 2021 and 2022.

Members say Government has collapsed their businesses due to its inability to pay them for the past three years.

According to the association, several engagements with the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Forestry Commission have been unsuccessful, despite the many assurances that the government would pay them.

Speaking in an interview with uniquenewsgh news in Kumasi, Members of the association in the Ashanti Region called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene immediately to ensure that they are paid.

They pleaded with the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and the President that they have done their part, so Government should pay them.

The government’s Green Ghana Day 2023 came off last week Friday, June 9 in several parts of the country. The Green Ghana initiative is targeted at planting 10 million trees nationwide.

The Chairman of the Association, Charles Danso, said Members have decided to report Government to international organizations that money for the exercise had been misused.

The Vice-Chairman of the Association, Abraham Mensah Boafo said Members will not take part in the 2024 general elections if Government fails to pay them.
