The Manhyia Palace has told the ruling new patriotic party to produce Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Wontumi, in one week.

Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako, aka Wontumi, has been dragged to the seat of the Asantehene for allegedly passing unsavoury comments at the vetting of some MP aspirants.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua, appeared before the Kumasi Traditional Council together with the national organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, as well as some regional executives of the party, to plead on behalf of the regional chairman.

Conspicuously missing was Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the embattled NPP chairman. Mr. Kodua told the chiefs that Wontumi was indisposed. “Nananom, we could not come with Chairman Wontumi because he has not been well.”

But the excuse did not sit well with some of the chiefs, as they demanded doctors’ report of Wontumi

Another individual whose issue came up was Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, a presenter at Wontumi Radio and TV

The lawyer is alleged to have denigrated chiefs in the Ashanti region in a video that has since gone viral.

The management of Wontumi media has also been summoned by the Kumasi Traditional Council to allow Maurice Ampaw to use their platform to denigrate chiefs in the Ashanti region.

“You allowed Maurice Ampaw, who doesn’t know tradition, to insult us; we need him here, and we will put before him four questions and ask him to translate.” Nana Kwaku Owusu, one of the chiefs of the council, stated.

The Chief of Bantama, who doubles as the Chief of Kumasi, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, chaired the special Kumasi Traditional Council meeting.

Troubled Frimpong Kodua pleaded for clemency as he was unable to present the said doctor’s report.
