The Chief of Staff of the republic of Ghana Hon. Akosua Frema Osei- Opare has issued a statement to the various government appointees which says Cabinet,at its meeting help 6th October,2022 discussed the need to establish a government response system to address various issues in the public domain, particularly,in respect of attempts to distort issues or misinform the public.
Subsequent to the discussions,the president of the republic Nana Akufo Addo has issued various guildlines to assist in timeous response to the matters in the public domain.
“All Government appointees, including Ministers and Chief Executive Officers, should provide comprehensive responses to allegations made in public domain within 12 hours of the allegation being brought to their attention.
These appointees should make sure they work with minister of information to disseminate the responses”.
The statement added, Government institutions should patronise their media assets across the country and the minister of information is working with the minister of communications and Digitalization to come up with a list and program which will share with the appointees.
“All Government appointees, including Ministers and Chief Executive Officers, should make themselves available for deployment on radio and television shows to speak generally about the Government’s activities and, particularly activities concerning their Ministries or institutions.
The president again called on Government appointees, including Ministers and Chief Executive Officers should have an active social media platforms.
But those who are not yet on social media platforms should contact the information minister to assist them in setting up social media accounts.
According to the president,the account should use to promote government activities,as well as the activities of the institutions to enable them respond timeously to issue.
He cautioned the appointees, including Ministers and Chief Executive Officers to comply with the directives to help the government account to the people properly.
