Otto Addo, Head Coach of the Black Stars, has announced a 26-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, scheduled for early September.
The Black Stars last convened in June, securing consecutive victories over Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Players are expected to report by Monday, September 2, 2024, to begin preparations for the AFCON qualifiers. The matches are set for September 5 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and September 10 in Berkane.
Coach Otto Addo has largely retained the core group of players, with no major surprises in the lineup. Key players such as Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku remain in the squad.
Returning to the team after missing the previous games are Kingsley Schindler, Inaki Williams, and Majeed Ashimeru. Frederick Asare of Asante Kotoko is the sole home-based player included in the squad.
Notably, Captain Andre Ayew and Daniel Amartey have been excluded from the squad after missing the last two matches against Mali and the Central African Republic.
The Black Stars will kick off their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign against Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a match against Niger in Berkane on September 1
