OFFICE OF SPECIAL PROSECUTOR HAS RELEASED IT REPORT WITH ECG, BANK OF GHANA AND GRA AS WELL AS SOME MINISTERS UNDER INVESTIGATION

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has listed cases it is investigating.

In its half-yearly report for the period between August and December, 2022, the Office stated that over 120 cases involving individuals and state-owned institutions are under investigation for corruption-related matters.

Among the institutions are the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the Gaming Commission of Ghana (GCG), the National Sports Authority (NSA), the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the Ghana Police Service (GPS).

For ECG, the Office is investigating suspected corruption and corruption–related offences in respect of the termination of a Distribution, Loss Reduction and Associated Network Improvement Project contract between the Company and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC).

For GCG, the OSP is investigating suspected corruption and corruption–related offences in respect of the procurement of and the award of a contract to Turfsport Ghana Limited by the Commission.

The award of contract by the NSA to Acoma Green Consult, Tabee Gh. Ltd, Wanschie Car Rentals, Obiri Car Rentals, No Farmer No Fortune, STC Clinic, Bobina Solutions and Mum & Sons Signature for the provision of goods and services is what the OSP is investigating.

Same award of contract by GWCL to Nayak 96 Enterprise, Dencom Construction Works, Edmus Ltd, Jomaks, Espab Construction Ltd, Roger More Construction Limited, Velech Enterprise, Intermec Gh. Limited, and A.J.I. Trading & Construction Limited for the provision of goods and services is what is under OSP’s radar of investigations.

For GRA, its Customs Division is the section being investigated. It has to do with suspected corruption and corruption–related offences in respect of the auction sales of vehicles and other goods by the Customs Division between 1 July 2016 and 15 August 2022.

It comes after its preliminary investigation after a complaint was lodged against Labianca Company Limited.

For the Ghana Police Service, the investigation has to do with the recruitment of Course 51 of Cadet Officers Training at the Ghana Police Academy.

“The investigation targets specific cases of alleged corruption and corruption–related offences and acts of the use of office for profit, abuse of office, abuse of power, favouritism, nepotism, victimisation and the selection of unqualified persons.”
