Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the national chairman of the opposition NDC, has allegedly accused the president of the National House of Chiefs of engaging in partisan politics.

“I went to his hometown, and he was wearing shorts and an NPP T-shirt on the campaign field.”

Mr. Asiedu Nketia also claimed that former President Togbe Afede was systematically removed from office so that the government could manipulate the system in their favor.

“Togbe Afede was voted out of office because he rejected the exgratia given to him; this is the crime he committed.”

He stated that if not for politics, the National House of Chiefs would have resolved the current parliamentary impasse.

He specifically chastised the President of the National House of Chiefs (NHC), Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi, for allegedly engaging in overly partisan politics, which could tarnish the chieftaincy’s reputation.

He was speaking at a community engagement event with Konongo-Odumase chiefs and residents on Sunday, November 10, 2024, as part of his Ashanti Region campaign tour.

He questioned the NHC president’s ability to criticize the NPP government, citing his active participation in partisan politics and party affiliation.

He pointed out that since taking office, the president has not issued a single statement addressing Ghana’s pressing issues, allowing the country to veer off course.

He accused President Akufo-Addo of manipulating Regional and National House of Chiefs elections by offering bribes to ensure they elect an NPP sympathizer.
