N/R:SOCO to address spillover of conflict from sahel region-V.P Bawumia

The Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia has said that the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion project has been designed to tackle the spread of conflict from the sahel region, reduce the impact of climate change and create economic opportunities while building public trust.

Dr Bawumia said the $450 million project, which will be implemented in 48 metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies in six regions in the North of Ghana, will focus on border communities where the citizenry particularly women and children are exposed to threats of terrorism.

Speaking at the Desert Pastures auditorium in Bolgatanga where he launched the project, Dr Bawumia stated that just like governments around the world, Ghana was pursuing the project to significantly address the deteriorating threats of terrorism and climate change.
