The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended a 34-year-old man, Robert Kwabena Boamah, in connection with the brutal murder of a young woman in the Abuakwa area.
The suspect was arrested at his hideout in Namong, near Offinso, on Wednesday, April 23, following intensive investigations into the crime. The case came to light after police received a distress call on Monday, April 21, reporting the discovery of a deceased woman near the Mighty Jesus Educational Complex in Dominase, within the Kwadaso Municipality.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers identified the victim as 23-year-old Dorothy Owusu Annor, popularly known as Maa Abena. A preliminary examination revealed she had suffered multiple stab wounds. An abandoned Opel Astra taxi with registration number AS 8575 – Y was also found at the scene, with its ignition key still in place.
Further investigations linked the vehicle to the suspect, Robert Kwabena Boamah, who was later tracked down and arrested. During interrogation, Boamah reportedly confessed to the crime. Police noted that he appeared weak upon arrest and later admitted to attempting suicide by consuming a bottle of weedicide. He was rushed to Abuakwa Polyclinic for treatment and has since been discharged.
The Police has assured the public that efforts are underway to arraign the suspect in court to face justice. In a statement, the Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and delivering justice for victims of violent crimes.
