Local Government minister assures Kumasi Kejetia City Market traders of individual meters

The minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon Dan Botwe has assured traders at the Kumasi Kejetia City Market of individual meters.

Traders have been agitating for individual shop meters since the open of the new market but their call has not been fruitful.

Currently, the over 7,000 lockable shops in the market are connected with one meter.

Speaking to uniquenewsgh’s Antwi Boasiako in an interview after his tour at the second phase of the central market project, he said, process are underway to provide individual shops with meter.

“I had fruitful meeting with the market queen mother’s and their followers and various trader’s unions,the Kumasi mayor and his team as well as the Board of the market on the mater issue “he said.

Hon Dan Botwe stressed that, he has arrange a meeting with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG),the Ministry of Energy and all other stakeholders to discuss on the procurement of the meters.

The minister assured the traders, the meter issue will be resolved very soon.

Meanwhile, the minister has said, the government will soon seek fund to complete all Jubilee Markets across the country which includes Krofrom market,one at Tepe,kwabre and other ones whilst the ministry goes through the contract documents.
