Teachers in education have declared a strike to demand the removal of the director general of the ghana education service Dr Eric Nkansah..
Gnat, NAGRAT and CCT say, though the Mnistry of Employment and Labour Relations has called them into meeting to discuss the strike, the leadership of the unions say, they will not call off their strike until the director is removed from office..
We will recalled that the teacher unions including GNAT,NAGRAT,CCT AND TEWU raised a red flag about the appointment in their subsequent press conferences,even threatened to withdraw their services if the government refused revoke the appointment of current Director General.
But the government refused to address to their pleads with all their threats and ultimatum.
The leadership of the teacher unions in declaring of strike at the press conference today,Nov.04,2022 ,also called on government to terminate the contract of the Deputy Director General Anthony Boateng after he has reached the retirement age of 60 years..
Meanwhile the union leaders have called on government pay their car maintenance allowance and review the teaching hours at the senior high school level under the free SHS programme from one hour to 40 minutes..
“If government want us to work together without any agitation , then the government agencies (ministry of Education and GES ) must address our grievances immediately for any future misfortunes”.
