The Ashanti North Regional Police Command is set to embark on a joint operation with the military to flush out armed robbers on the Kumasi-Ejura-Atebubu Highway.

According to the police, the joint operation aims to protect commuters and traders who use the highway.

The Ashanti North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Jude Cobina, revealed this on Monday, July 21, 2025, when the Ejurahene, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, handed over an 8-bedroom apartment to four senior police officers.

The apartments were rented at a cost of about 200,000 cedis by the renowned chief to provide befitting accommodation for the police officers.

Commending the Ejurahene for his kind gesture, DCOP Jude Cobina described the chief as the backbone of the police administration in terms of support.

He disclosed that the police command has declared war on armed robbers operating in the area.

“Although robbery cases on the Kumasi-Ejura Highway have decreased, the police will continue to work to reduce them to the barest minimum.”

“Plans are far advanced to team up with military officers in this operation to ensure maximum protection of lives and properties.” He said.

For his part, the Ejurahene, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, said he rented the apartment as part of efforts to support the provision of adequate security for his people.

He noted that, having already constructed one of the best divisional police headquarters in the country, there was still a need to provide accommodation for the officers.

Barimah Osei Hwedie II encouraged the police to work with integrity, putting the country first, and assured them that the Ejura Divisional Council will always support them in the effective discharge of their duties.
