IMPLEMENTATION OF REVISED E-LEVY RATE OF 1% TO COMMENCE ON WEDNESDAY JAN.11,2023

Ghana  Chamber of Telecommunications has issued a statement to implement the revised electronic transfer levy  1 percent  on Wednesday 11th January,2023 by the directive of Ghana Revenue Authority(GRA).

“Following the directive from the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) the implementation of the revised Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) rate of 1% by Airtel Mobile Commerce (Ghana) Limited, GCB G-Money, Mobile Money Limited, Vodafone Mobile Financial Services Limited and Zeepay Ghana Limited, will commence on Wednesday January 11, 2023.

As captured in the Electronic Transfer Levy (Amendment) Act, 2022, Act 1089 which has been passed by parliament and assented to by the President, the levy on electronic transfers has been reduced from 1.5% to 1%, while the GHS 100 threshold remains unchanged.

The Chamber would like to assure the general public that its members are working assiduously with the GRA and other key institutions, to ensure a seamless implementation of the revised levy from Wednesday January 11, 2023”

The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication is an industry association and a private initiative by the mobile network operators in Ghana. We are an advocacy institution established to help direct telecommunications policy, legislation and regulation, and pursue research towards the development of telecommunications industry.
As the voice of the mobile operators and tower companies in Ghana, they work through direct engagements with government (institutions), civil society, key stakeholders and consumers to shape the mobile ecosystem and maximize the socio-economic benefits of mobile in Ghana. The Chamber was registered in 2010 and inaugurated in 2011.

On 24th November,2023 the finance minister Mr. Ken Ofori Atta in his 2023 budget presentation in parliament, he indicated that the government in consultation with stakeholders the electronic levy has been reduced from 1.5% to 1% across all the electronic platforms and ghs100 threshold is also removed.

Parliament approved an amendment to the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-levy) Act on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
