The Ghana Police Service has invited political parties to a high-level meeting to deliberate on election-related violence and also its preparations for the upcoming parliamentary by-election in the Akwatia Constituency.
In a letter signed by the Commissioner of Police and Director-General of Administration, Dr. David Agyemang Adjem, the police disclosed that the meeting will be held at the 5th Floor Conference Room of the Police Headquarters on Tuesday, 19th August 2025, at 10:00 am.
According to the police letter, the session will serve as a platform to discuss both security and operational modalities for the polls, as well as the readiness of the Electoral Commission (EC).
“The meeting will discuss the modalities for the by-election as well as the Electoral Commission’s preparedness and their roadmap for the parliamentary by-election,” the letter read.
The Police Administration expressed confidence in the cooperation of political stakeholders, urging them to make themselves available for the crucial engagement. “We trust that you will please avail yourself of the meeting,” the letter concluded.
The Electoral Commission, which is mandated to conduct the by-election, was also copied in the correspondence.
