I don’t need any politician in my Palace- Kurasehene warns as he personally rehabilitates community road
The Chief of Kurase Nana Adu-Boahen is brimming with rage as politicians have over the years denied the community the needed development.
The community developmental projects, including roads, and schools among others.
Kurase which sits in the outskirts of the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti region is a predominant farming area.
As the chief and his people waited and called on the government to fix their only deplorable road for years, nothing worthwhile happened, he, therefore, decided to sell his cocoa farm to gather money for the rehabilitation of the community road.
The road linking Kurase to Kwaso through to Ejisu has remained in a sorry state for decades without any meaningful intervention.
Residents struggled to transport farm produce including cocoa to nearby market centres owing to the challenge.
Schoolchildren and sick people were all living in precarious situations as commuting became difficult after every heavy downpour.
Sadly, some people lost their lives on the road over the years due to the predicament.
Nana Adu- Boahen says the motivation behind the initiative is to give his people a sigh of relief whilst travelling on the road.
Nana Adu- Boahen further says, it’s mind-boggling for a community in the 21st century to continue to wallow in such deprivation as pregnant women and children are mostly transported with motorcycles.
He says the road is just 9km from Ejisu, therefore it surprises him why the district assembly and the of government are continuously abandoning the community’s road.
Owing to the failed promises politicians in the area made to the chief, he states that he will not allow any politicians into his palace because they have nothing new to offer.
He believes they will still ride on the old lies to garner votes in the 2024 elections, a situation he cannot entertain.
Nana Adu-Boahen also indicates that he is currently renovating the primary school building because calls to authorities in the district have fallen on deaf ears.
Some residents in the community commended Nana Adu-Boahen for taking such a bold step to alleviate their plights.
According to them, the road is seriously affecting every aspect of life including, farming, education, health and among others, therefore the government should help the chief complete the road.
Drivers in the area are also excited that Nana Nana Adu-Boahen has personally begun the rehabilitation of the road, saying it will go a long way to reduce the number of times they visit mechanics.
