On Monday morning, Feb. 24, 2025, the Ojobi District Police Command was besieged by hundreds of women whose cooking utensils had gone missing.
This follows the arrest of Mumuni Abubakar, a scrap scavenger suspected of having stolen cooking utensils from homes in the Akoti and Ojobi communities, all in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The arrest of Mumuni Abubakar, a scrap scavenger, followed a series of complaints from women in the Akoti and Ojobi communities about their missing cooking utensils.
At the point of his arrest, pots of various sizes, including those that still had food residues, were found in his possession.
The missing cooking wares in the two communities became rampant in the last week.
In some instances, cooking pots that contained food and were still on fire went missing to the dismay of residents.
Following his arrest, several women from the communities thronged to the Ojobi police station to either identify their wares or lodge an official complaint to the police.
