One of the aspirants for the NDC parliamentary primaries in the Asunafo South Constituency in the Ahafo Region, Christian Frimpong Oppong, has been disqualified on allegations of forgery of signatures on his nomination filing forms.

This has paved the way for the incumbent MP for the constituency, Eric Opoku, to go unopposed for the NDC in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

The NDC vetting committee for the parliamentary aspirants at its sitting at Goaso took the decision after verifying allegations of forgery of signatures and impersonation of names on Christian Oppong Frimpong nomination forms.

He is alleged to have forged twenty-five names and impersonated thirteen others which the Asunafo South Constituency Chairman of the NDC, Issah Ben Ahmed, said is an offence that smacks of criminality.

Highly elated Eric Opoku has been the Asunafo South Constituency MP since 2005.

He said if the constituency renews his tenure in office he would use the opportunity to help create jobs for his people.
