The newly elected President of the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen, Mr. Michael Tetteh Kwetey, has assured farmers and fisherfolk that the new executive team will ensure the fair distribution of agricultural inputs and premix fuel without bureaucratic delays.

For several decades, farmers and fisherfolk have struggled to access the necessary inputs to support their food production for the nation and beyond.
Food prices are hiked due to the scarcity of farm inputs availability which aid farmers in accelerating their productivity.

Mr. Kwetey is optimistic about the Association’s new roadmap to collaborate with the government and local authorities for the acquisition and distribution of agricultural materials to farmers.

Fisherfolk have raised concerns about bureaucratic obstacles preventing fair access to subsidised fuel, which is essential for their operations..
This has been a long-standing challenge for numerous fishing communities throughout Ghana.

He stated that they will ensure a fair allocation and prevent the diversion or misuse of premix fuel.

He spoke at the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen’s Delegates Conference in Kumasi, where new executives were elected to lead the Association for the next four years.

“We will set up a local committee including GNAFF, government representatives, farmers and the chiefs to supervise any agricultural materials that would be supply to farmer to enhance productivity and efficiency”, he stated.

Mr. Michael Tetteh Kwetey states that GNAFF is prepared to work with the government to develop and execute policies that will benefit the entire agricultural sector in enhancing food production for both local consumption and export.

“For some years GNAFF wasn’t vibrant enough to channel the concerns of the Association to the government but with these new executives elected across district, regional and national into office by our members, we are ready to work with the government to come up with any policies that will benefit our farmers and fisherfolk community “, he assured.
