Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly is to set up a food market Center within the district capital, Kodie as a means to curb the recent skyrocketing of food price by traders.
According to the District Chief Executive Hon.Adu Poku Christian, the food market will reduce over pricing of food products and stress of the farmers after harvesting their goods and also to get access to the ready market.
He says it will also help the assembly increase its internal generation fund by tolling the traders who will take advantage of the food market.
He was speaking at 38th farmers day celebration at Wawaase in the Afigya Kwabre South District.
He also reiterated the DISEC in collaboration with Nanaom will continue to fight against galamsey activities which have been a canker destroying most farm Lands across the country.
“We won’t allow galamsey to destroyed our farm lands and river bodies. we shall resist any attempt by any entity to do illegal mining in our district”.
