ECOWAS Recuses Odikro Nkwanta with Mechanized Borehole over 20yrs of suffering

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) says they are now focusing on bringing down development to the doorsteps of its people especially those in rural communities in the fifteen sister countries.

Ambassador Baba Gana Wakil who is the resident representative of ECOWAS in Ghana, reiterated that” ECOWAS would be no longer seen as leaders of sister countries only attending meetings and seminars without considering the needs of its people”.

He said to this effort, the secretariat of ECOWAS is putting up measures to construct more mechanized Boreholes for the people of rural communities who are facing extremely high water stress in the ECOWAS communities.

Ambassador Baba Gana Wakil was speaking to Newsmen during the commissioning and handing over ceremony of the mechanic Borehole constructed by the administration of ECOWAS for the people of Odikro Nkwanta in Ahafo Ano North Municipality of Ashanti region.

The National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO, Nana Agyemang Prempeh who lobbied for the project said, the residents of Odikro Nkwanta have been facing a water crisis for more than twenty years now and need to collaborate with ECOWAS to bring relief to the people.

expressed his gratitude to ECOWAS and NADMO director for the great relief after 20 years of suffering.

The residents of Odikro-Nkwanta also expressed their excitement about the water project and hoped that more of such come to the community.
