The National Tripartite Committee including ( ministry of employment and labour relations, Ghana employers association and Trade union congress ) has announced a 10 percent increase in the 2023 national daily minimum wage which is GHS14.88 per a day.
The committee has also announced a 15 percent cost of living allowance for workers who are beneficiaries of the daily minimum wage.
The national tripartite agreed to increase the minimum wage after considering the current economic conditions.
The committee also considered the cost of living and is impact on the earnings of workers.
After deliberations, the committee announced a 10 percent increment in the wage to begin next year.
According to Ignatius Baffour Awuah the minister of employment and labour relations,the effective date for the implementation of the 2023 National Daily Minimum Wage shall be 1st Jan.2023.
He said all establishment ,institutions or organizations whose daily minimum wages are below the new rates should Adjust accordingly the deadline which shall be Jan.1,2023.
The minister also cautioned institutions to comply with the directive else they will attract sanctions.
He says the public workers will continue enjoy the 20 percent cost of living allowance till the new minimum wage is streamlined to cushion Ghanaian worker.
Meanwhile ,the other partners of tripartite committee pledged the commitment of employers to get the amount paid and work with government addresses cost of living.
