Former Secretary to the erstwhile Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) Charles Onuawonto Bissue has been arrested by the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP).
He was arrested on Wednesday, June 21 when he turned himself in at the Office.
According to a press release signed by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, Mr Bissue was interviewed and subsequently released on bail when he visited the Office.
Mr Bissue was declared wanted by the OSP on Tuesday, June 20 but his lawyers challenged the Office to produce documents that backed such a declaration
On Thursday, June 15, Justice Nicholas MC Abodakpi of the Human Rights Court 2 granted Mr Bissue’s application by restraining the OSP from publishing notices purporting that the former Presidential Staffer is wanted.
Though the OSP later indicated that it can make arrests without any warrant or notice, Mr Bissue turned himself in.
He is expected to report back to the OSP for further interrogation.
