18-year-old form one student Joseph Asante, of Gyaase Senior High School at Endwa in the Assin North District has met his untimely death after drowning in River Konkoom at Assin Akomfode.
Some of his colleagues explained that they experienced a water supply cut by Ghana Water Company Limited which affected the school.
After a football training , some of the students went hunting for water at River Konkoom which lies between the Assin Endwa and Assin Akomfode townships to meet their water needs.
In the process of drawing the water, the deceased’s bucket fell into it and in an attempt to save it, he also got drowned.
Some good Samaritans including his colleague students were able to remove him from the water and rushed him to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu but was pronounced dead on arrival.
