Seven people are said to have lost their lives and 8 others including an infant also sustained various degrees of injuries when a sprinter bus they were traveling in from Mankessim towards Accra veered off the road into the bush.

In the course of the racing, another bus from the opposite direction showed up and in an attempt to dodge colliding with the oncoming bus, the sprinter somersaulted several times before hitting a huge tree in a nearby bush
