The Member of Parliament for Hemang Lower Denkyira in the Central Region Hon. Bright Wireko-Brobbey was forced to leave constituency office after some irate youth hooted at him and chased him away in his constituency on Saturday 17th, December 2022.
The MP who doubles as the Deputy minister for employment and labour relations was furious as angry youth in his constituency hooted at him, chanting war songs to register their displeasure over what they describe as selfish leadership and lack of infrastructural development in the area.
The protest by the residents of the area comes in the wake of the MP allegedly tempting to suspend some party polling stations executives who he believes are not supporting him, they also claim he’s only interested in his welfare than those who elected him to parliament and he’s interested in sharing money for votes, the protesters insisted.
Addressing their concerns, Mr Kwadwo Afrifa who was the former polling station chairman at Abrafo said, during 2020, six hardworking party executives were suspended which includes the Constituency Secretary Mr Isaac Obeng Antwarko, his assistant Nana Kwaku Abban, First Vice Chairman Yahaya Issah, Communications Director Mr. Kofi Osei Adu, Deputy Nasara Coordinator Dauda Issah and Constituency Youth Organiser Richard Ofori-Quartey,in a letter signed by former constituency chairman Timothy Terry Tweneboah, which was later resolved at the Central Regional Disciplinary Committee.
During the 2020 General elections the MP experience the largest skirt and blouse voting due to this same practice of suspending party executives, polling station executives and the youth will not sit down for this to happen again in 2024 election.
The MP fraudulently selected his people for the polling executives positions ,now he felt betrayed and allegedly want to suspend such executives. It is the view of the people that he is the worst MP they have ever had.
‘The youth in the constituency are not going to allow the MP to take us for granted in the district enough is enough, we don’t need him again, they threatened”.
