Some Nigerian Traders in Kasoa whose shops have been locked by the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) for over three days want government’s intervention to have their shops opened for them.
The Traders lamenting on the issue accused Guta of sidelining them and stereotyped at the expense of other foreign nationals and being dealt with.
According to the Nigerian Traders in Kasoa most of whom are members of the Nigerian Union of Traders Association,NUTA their members have been sidelined and their shops closed at the expense of other foreign nationals who are also do business in the enclave.
“For over three days now our shops have been locked by the leadership of the Ghana Union of Traders Association,GUTA”.
According to the Nigerian Traders no reasons were given for the locking of their shops adding that a joint team of police, military coupled with the leadership GUTA lead the operations.
They lamented the harsh economic condition they are goinng through because of the operation by Guta.
Some of the Nigerian shops that have been closed had some notices on them directing shop owners whose shops have been closed to produce business operating permit,tax receipts, tenancy agreement among others to the Ministry of Trade for inspection before their shops are opened.
Chairman of the Nigerian Community in the Central Region Sir.Dr.Chukuemaka Azebuike detailed issues surrounding the matter while assuring their readiness to collaborate with stakeholders and government to resolve the matter.
