BUDGET 2023:E-LEVY TO BE REDUCED TO 1%

The minister of finance Ken Ofori Atta has indicated in the 2023 budget presentation today in parliament that the Electronic Levy popularly known as E- Levy which was introduced by the government in May 2022, budget with 1.5% charges on every electronic transaction will be reduced to 1%.

It led into public discussion for the government to scrape or reduce the Levy to its minimum charges for public patronage but it was proved futile after all the public sentiments.

Ken Ofori Atta says,”we will undertake the following actions, initiatives, and interventions.

He says the government is going to review the E-Levy Act and more specifically, reduce the headline rate from 1.5% to one percent (1%) of the transaction value as well as the removal
of the daily threshold.
