Bokankye D/A Basic School in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District has been closed indefinitely due to landguard threats to teachers and students during school hours.
Information received by uniquenewsgh, in the early hours, the supposed land guards fired several warning shots to scare the residents over land litigation, causing teachers and students to flee for cover.
According to some of the residents, the activities of the land guards have posed a serious threat to the community, especially teaching and learning.
The headteacher of Bokankye D/A Basic, Mr. Francis Karkari Beko, revealed in an interview with uniquenewsgh News that the firing of gunshots by the supposed landguards happened 100 meters away from the school premises.
He stated that the situation had made the environment scarce and unsuitable for teaching and learning because many teachers and pupils had been traumatized.
He urged traditional authorities and security agencies to implement security measures to restore calm and protect the community.
Meanwhile, residents urged the police to call on both parties to use land guards to resolve land disputes, which are causing insecurity, to halt and engage in dialogue to avoid reprisal attacks.
