ASSAULT ON JOURNALIST: Court fines former NDC communications director and accomplice 3,600 cedis each

The Tamale magistrate court has slapped a 3,600 cedis fine each on the former Northern regional deputy communications director of NDC Hardi Pagazaa and his accomplice Mumuni Osman for assaulting a Radio Presenter of Dagbon FM, Sadiq Gariba.

The two appeared to plead guilty to all four counts of; conspiracy to commit a crime to wit assault, assault, unlawful entry, and threat of death.

The prosecution later withdrew the fourth count of the threat of death.

Defence lawyer Halid Rauf prayed for a non-custodial sentence for his clients which the court subsequently fined the accused persons to 300 penalty units each which amounts to 3,600 cedis in monetary terms or in default, serve 18 months in prison.

The two; Hardi Pagazaa and Mumuni Osman have since paid the fine and have been released according to their lawyer Halid Rauf.
