Two staff of Media General were over the weekend honoured for media excellence by the Ashanti Regional chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association
The Editor of Akoma fm , Broadcast Journalist Beatrice Spio-Garbrah and Head of Camera for TV3 Kumasi Office Victor Opoku was honoured alongside 15 other seasoned journalists in the region.
The Ashanti GJA Excellence Awards was to recognize the contributions of media personalities in the region who have used their profession to transform the media industry and influence lives
Beatrice Spio-Garbrah who is celebrating 20 years in the media industry said the recognition is of utmost significance to her as it shows that the journey and professionalism put into the work have been noticed
She said going forward she will continue to use her profession to talk more about health, and disability and also share knowledge with young journalists.
Head of Camera Victor Opoku who was also awarded for teaching young Camera men techniques in the profession had this to say.
The GJA also recognized the contributions of journalists such as Erastus Asare Donkor of Multi Media, Lovin Cee, Kwame Adinkra, Charles Brafo Anakwah and Kojo Marfo.
A seasoned educationist IK Gyasi who was a regular panellist on most radio stations was also honoured
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, aka COKA, was also recognized for his contributions to media development in the region
