Aggrieved traders at Adum have said they are not ready to pay the 6% levy on their business.
Addressing the media for the first time, executive secretary to the group, Charles Kusi Appiah-Kubi blamed government of not showing enough goodwill, despite their massive contribution to the employment market.
The aggrieved traders embarked on closure of their shops since Monday to till today Wednesday 12th Oct.,2022 to register their dissatisfaction on skyrocketing of the dollar and GRA rambo style of collecting taxes from their end.
These wholesalers who supply their goods to scores of retailers say recent policy by the GRA is unfavorable to business.
Aggrieved traders called on government for immediate dialogue on Value Added Tax ,(VAT,) but the government hasn’t shown any concern about their aggrievance.
The traders at the CBD remain resolute in their quest to force government to review its VAT policy.
They claim, the current economy is collapsing with their businesses
Some retailers and customers have been stranded following the strike which entered day three today.
“Our shops will remain closed until government addresses our aggrievance,”Mr. Appiah Kubi stated.
