The Inspector General of Police has directed the immediate relocation of all police officers and their families from a building at Apromase.

This was after a policd officer, his wife, and their 3-month-old baby boy burnt in a fire incident in one of the apartments.

Dr George Akuffo Dampare said the unfortunate incident has shook the police administration and that they are doing everything possible to come out of it stronger.

The police chief and other senior officers visited the disaster scene to assess the situation and commiserate with the bereaved family and other victims.

Sergeant Owusu Asante Baafi, 35, his wife and their 3-month-old baby boy were burnt to death after they got trapped in their apartment within the police barracks at Apromase.

Dr George Akuffo Dampare engaged with the affected families.

He assured of a joint investigation between the police and Ghana national fire service to unravel the cause behind a fire incident.

He instructed the immediate relocation of all police officers and their families from the building that was affected by the fire.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Living Waters hospital morgue.

With just sixteen days into January, the Ashanti region has recorded over 90 fire incidents with three casualties.

The Ghana National Fire Service regional commander ACFO Henry Giwah has described the situation as worrying.
