A/R;GOVT URGED TO COMPLETE ABANDONED THEATER

The Ashanti Regional Director of Center for National Culture Mr. Emmanuel Ansu has urged the government through the ministry of Tourism, Arts and culture to complete the abandoned theater.

An MoU reached between the ministry and China Bengbu International Technology and Economic Cooperation Limited in September 2020 on the two year project has halted.

The ministry of tourism, arts and culture on September 5, 2020, signed and agreement with a Chinese company, Bengbu International Limited for the construction of a theater at the Kumasi Center for national culture.

But, works on the two-year project has halted.

Emmanuel Ansu, director at center for national culture believes completion of the project will will add to the socio-economic development of the country.

He also called on government to allocate culture fund in 2023 budget to support the creative art industry.

We will be recalled that the sector Minister, Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, signed for the ministry, while Mr. Li Zhongchun, the business executive of CBITEC, signed for the company, with the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Kumasi, Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi, serving as witness.

Designed for large conferences, drama and music performances, and modern dance, the theater will seat 2,000 people in the main auditorium and also contain a 600-capacity hall for conferences and meetings.
