Beneficiaries of disbursement of disability fund have been cautioned not to use the money for wedding ceremonies and chop money but rather make sure achieve its purpose.
As part of efforts of the government to empower persons with disabilities and also ensure effective utilization of the PWD fund, the Offinso South Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region has disbursed a total of One Hundred and fifty nine Thousand, Five Hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis (GH₵159,550) to Persons with Disability (PWD) in the District to empower them undertake sustainable economic ventures that would sustain their livelihood.The colorful event was held at the forecourt of the Offinso south assembly which is the municipal capital.
The Items presented to the PWD includes, industrial sewing machines, fufu pounding machines, deep freezers, knitting machines, Sheeps ,assorted provisions for provision shop, wheel chair, and many more to the physically challenged, Hearing and speech impaired, visually impaired, intellectually challenged and some with multiple disabilities.
The Municipal Chief Executive Hon.Kingsley Owusu Appiah urged the beneficiaries to take proper care of the items and try to invest into productive ventures to help uplift their standards of living and welfare.
“By you heard about testimonies from these beneficiaries, don’t use the money for marriage ceremonies and chop money”.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the Assembly and government for their continues support since the creation of the Assembly and pledged to use the items purposefully.
