The National Democratic Congress has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the government for the immediate release of their member Seth Osei Asiedu who was arrested over a social media post criticizing government over the current hardships and Moody’s downgrade.
According to the party, Mr Asiedu known on social media as Kwaku Rafiki has been detained for more than 15 hours by the state’s security apparatus without any knowledge of his whereabouts.
Addressing the media on Thursday at the NDC’s headquarters, the Minority Ranking Member on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, stressed that the NDC will heavily descend on the Akufo-Addo-led government if it does not produce Kweku Rafiq.
Meanwhile ,the NDC Comunications Director, Sammy Gyamfi, who is the lead counsel for the suspect called on the IGP and the Director-General of the CID to do the needful or face their wrath.
The NDC suspects a deliberate underhand dealing by the government to oppress free speech and cause undue fear and panic by this “unlawful” arrest.
