The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has issued a 72-hour ultimatum for the immediate dismissal of Ashanti region National Service Scheme(NSS) Director, Alex Poku Mensah.
The nurses who seem to be angry are threatening to withdraw their services at Manhyia District hospital if their ultimatum expires without dismissing the said director.
The call is premised on an audio recording emanating from the Manhyia Government Hospital in the Ashanti region in which a male voice purported to be that of the Ashanti region NSS Director, Alex Opoku Mensah, raining insults on a nurse.
Speaking exclusively on Akoma FM’s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma Tuesday, November 29, 2022, Ashanti region Chairman for the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) Jones Afriyie Anto told host of the show, Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin, that “it is rather unfortunate that a whole regional director of National Service Scheme rain insults on a nurse and for that matter all nurses in Ghana. We are calling for the immediate dismissal of the director else we will withdraw all our services from the Manhyia District Hospital.”
Several attempts to call the said director, Mr. Opoku Mensah for his side of the story proved futile at the time this report was being filed.
The GRNMA has since issued a press release demanding the head of the NSS Director, Mr. Opoku Mensah.
