Barring any last minute changes the embattled Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is scheduled to present the 2023 budget to parliament today

The Finance Minister has been in the news over the last one month as his party’s MPs called for his sacking for the poor management of the economy

This was also followed by a Censure motion filed by the Minority to get him axed.

There has been series of meetings between the President, Party executives and the aggrieved MPs to allow the Minister present the 2023 budget and also conclude the IMF negotiations

Ahead of the budget presentation a member of the finance committee, and mp for Asuogyaman Thomas Ampem Nyarko has hinted the 2023 budget to be read today is full of taxes and should not be accepted.

Addressing the media in parliament the mp says government intends to increase the value added tax, VAT by 2.5 percent among other taxes which he says will further negatively affect the livelihoods of citizens.
